History of the wristwatch - a little journey.

The wristwatch has a long and quite interesting history that dates back to the 15th century. Back then, watches were mainly made as pocket watches to be carried in the pocket. It was several centuries before the first wristwatch was developed.

Wristwatches were first made for women in the late 19th century. These watches were ornaments rather than functional timepieces and were often worn as bracelets. However, it wasn't long before men started wearing wristwatches too.

The first wristwatches for men were often military timepieces. During World War I, wristwatches were worn by soldiers on the battlefield to facilitate coordinated action. Sturdy, simple and precise, watches soon became an essential accessory for men.

The wristwatch reaches the mainstream

Wristwatches became increasingly popular in the 1920s. Technical advances in the field of watchmaking have enabled manufacturers to build smaller and more precise watches. Watches have also become more stylish and versatile, with different materials, designs and functions.
